'NDRANGHETA: EX SINDACO AUSTRALIANO NEGA IN TV OGNI ACCUSA SUO AVVOCATO A PERTH, MIO CLIENTE NON E' STATO ARRESTATO DA POLIZIA AUSTRALIANA

Perth, 9 mar. (Adnkronos/Dpa) - Dall'Australia nega ogni accusa di attivita' criminale Tony Vallelonga, l'ex sindaco della cittadina di Stirling coinvolto nella mega operazione anti- 'Ndrangheta "Crimine 2". "Credo che un uomo come me, che ha sempre lavorato sodo per la comunita' per anni e non solo in un'associazione di beneficienza, sia una cittadino straordinario" ha detto, intervistato dalla tv australiana Abc, l'uomo, nato 64 anni fa in Calabria, ed emigrato nel 1963 in Australia. John Hammond, avvocato che difende l'ex primo cittadino della cittadina a 40 chilometri da Perth, ha definito "vergognose le notizie circolate riguardo all'ordine di arresto spiccato in Italia nei confronti di Vallelonga. Hammond ha precisato che Vallelonga non e' stato arrestato o incriminato dalla polizia federale australiana. "Non ha legami con il crimine organizzato, e' un uomo con una posizione impeccabile nella comunita' dell'Australia occidentale", ha aggiunto. Fonti della polizia australiana hanno poi spiegato all'Abc di aver ricevuto una richiesta di assistenza da parte dei colleghi italiani ma che aspettano che la questione venga affrontata a livello di contatti governativi.
